Sonora Pass Winter Drive
Friday, December 12, 2025
The weather has been unseasonably warm over the past couple of weeks, and the Sonora Pass is surprisingly open. So I took the opportunity to take a drive up 108 to see where the snow level is and take some photos. The first sign of any snow was at about 6,000-feet, where there was piles of dirty snow (likely from the plowing) parallel to the roadway. There wasn’t any significant snow until I was close to 8,000-feet, but only on the north facing slopes. I found a pretty solid covering at just over 9,000-feet, where I stopped at a few locations to take some pictures before heading home. Take a look at my short video on YouTube to see what the conditions looked like.
